Returned to action in 1977 at the Severn Valley Railway it was back on the main line in 1985 as part of the Great Western 150 celebrations and heavily featured in British Rail’s ‘Cardigan Bay Express’ services on its old stamping ground in 1987

The fun couldn’t last and it was stored unservicable by new owners EWS in November 1998 after being stopped with radiator issues a few weeks earlier

The loco also carried commemorative bells above the cab windows and a plaque denoting its significance in the Class 66 story
